The British government plans to support autopilot car R & D tests

It is reported that the British government to join the automotive industry, to promote intelligent network of cars and automatic driving car development test.
The UK government launched the Meridian project, which is planned to build two bases in Coventry's Advanced R & D Center and London's Stratford Building, where intelligence and automotive technology are automatically developed along the M40 road. The government will invest £ 100 million ($ 847 million) for the program.


British industry minister Claire Perry said the core of the UK's industrial strategy was to provide the world's top technology, research and innovation. Meridian projects show this ambition, and now the automotive industry, academia and government are working together to build a world-renowned car brand.
Prior to the release of the Meridian project, a global market value report predicts that by 2035, the global market value of autopilot vehicle technology will reach £ 907 billion, and this industry will provide more than 27,000 jobs in the UK.
