Automotive Harness Design - Wire Harness


 

 

The car harness is the main body of the car circuit. At this stage, the form of the wire harness is generally composed of wires, connectors, harness wrapping materials and body fasteners. Automotive wiring harness to ensure that the transmission of electrical signals, but also to ensure the reliability of the circuit connected to the electrical and electronic components to supply the specified current value to prevent electromagnetic interference to the surrounding circuit, and to exclude electrical short circuit.

Car harness dressing play a wear-resistant, flame retardant, anti-corrosion, to prevent interference, reduce noise, beautify the appearance of the role, generally based on the working environment and space size to develop dressing design.


 

(A) dressing design

Engine harness work environment is bad, so with high flame resistance, waterproof, high mechanical strength of the bellows dressing;

The front cabin work environment is relatively poor, most of the branches with a good flame retardant corrugated tube dressing, part of the branch with PVC heat pipe closure;

Instrument line work space is small, the environment is relatively good, can be used to wrap all wrapped or wrapped;

Door lines and canopy line work space is small, available all wrapped around the tape, some branches can be wrapped with PET winding tube;

The smaller cap line can be attached to the body with a sponge tape;

Chassis line due to contact with the body more parts, so with a bellows bandage to prevent harness wear;

Doors and cabs to reduce the noise reduction requirements of high position, with a sponge tape bandage. The

 (2) materials for dressing

Generally use bellows, heat shrinkable tube, PET winding tube, tape, sponge tape and so on

1. Bellows

Bellows in the harness dressing position in the general accounted for about 60%, multi-purpose open bellows. Its main feature is good wear resistance, high temperature resistance, bellows temperature in the -40-150 ℃, and relatively good flame resistance, bellows itself has a good flexibility, good bending resistance. Bellows are the most common in cabin and front and rear protection structures.

Bellows material is polypropylene (PP), nylon (PA), polypropylene modified (PPMOD) and so on.

PA material in the flame retardant, wear-resistant than PP material; but PP material in the bending fatigue resistance is stronger than the PA material.


2. Heat shrink tube

Heat shrinkable tube with high temperature shrinkage, soft flame retardant, insulation corrosion resistance, softness and resistance to bending deformation is good, low shrinkage, shrink fast. Widely used in a variety of automotive wiring harness each location. Generally closed, wear resistance in general, the voltage level of more than 600V.

Heat shrink tubing is mainly used in the environment is relatively good four doors and cab, especially harness beam bundle branch, in order to make the wire smooth transition.

Heat shrink tubing from the structure points, can be divided into single-wall heat shrinkable tube and double wall heat shrink tubing (including plastic)

Heat shrink tubing from the material points can be divided into PVC heat shrink tubing, cross-linked polyolefin (including PE, PP) heat shrink tubing, cross-linked PET heat shrink tubing

3, PET winding tube, PET braided tube

Winding tube appearance for the black mesh protection film, crimped after dressing in the wiring harness, its main feature is soft and easy to bend. Because of its poor wear resistance, generally less seen. Where the trunk harness needs to be bent, or where the thicker cable branch is visible.

PET braided tube is characterized by good softness, easy to bend, the application of less cars.

4, wiring harness tape

Tape winding is the most basic wiring harness, the most commonly used protective materials, the whole wiring harness need to rely on tape for fixed molding. The tape has good corrosion resistance, oil resistance and insulation characteristics. In the harness to play bundles, wear, insulation, fire, noise reduction, marking and so on.

According to the tape substrate, can be divided into PVC tape, high temperature PVC tape, cloth tape, velvet tape, sponge tape.
PVC tape

Wear resistance, good flame resistance; temperature at 80 ℃ or so, noise reduction is not good, the price is cheaper.

High temperature PVC tape

Abrasion resistance, flame resistance is better; temperature around 105 ℃.

Burkina Faso tape can be divided into polyester cloth tape, fiber cloth tape, non-woven tape, velvet tape. Basics mostly PET.

Polyester cloth tape

The base material is PET polyester cloth base. Temperature at about 150 ℃, can be used for automotive engine harness high temperature winding.

Fiber cloth tape

The substrate is cotton fiber cloth or PET fiber cloth. With high temperature, hand tear and good flexibility for high-temperature winding of automotive wiring harness.

Nonwovens tape

The substrate is PET nonwoven fabric. Temperature at 125 ℃ or so, have better noise reduction performance, flexibility, can be hand-tear.

Velvet tape

The substrate is PET flannel or polyamide velvet. Good resistance to high, wear, oil and aging resistance, temperature at 105 ℃ or so, bandage performance and noise reduction performance.

Sponge tape

Its function and use similar to the tape, the main feature is the noise reduction performance, and more for the doors and cabs need to reduce the noise reduction of the place, to eliminate the badge of the harness.
