The 2021 World Economic Forum will be postponed to August

On February 3, Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry issued a statement stating that the World Economic Forum has decided to postpone the 2020 special annual meeting originally planned to be held in Singapore in May this year to August 17-20 this year.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore stated that the decision was made because of the global travel restrictions caused by the new crown pneumonia epidemic and the current international challenges in fighting the virus.

The statement stated that the Singaporean government understands the current challenges facing the World Economic Forum and has agreed to the organization's proposal to reschedule the special annual meeting. Singapore will continue to work closely with the World Economic Forum to ensure the safe and successful hosting of this year's special annual meeting in Singapore.

The World Economic Forum is an unofficial international organization with the purpose of studying and discussing problems in the world economy and promoting international economic cooperation and exchanges. Its predecessor was the "European Management Forum" founded by Schwab in 1971. In 1987, the "European Management Forum" was renamed the "World Economic Forum". On December 7, 2020, the World Economic Forum announced that taking into account the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the 2021 annual meeting of the forum will be held in Singapore from May 13 to 16, 2021.
